Stacy Barter
Stacy Barter is the Director of Education & Program Development of the Centre for Innovative and Entrepreneurial Leadership (CIEL), a not-for-profit organization that works across sectors to support the development of vibrant, vital communities. Her current work and passion includes the development of leadership training for rural communities that are involved in creating positive community change across the province of BC. Prior to joining CIEL, Stacy has worked extensively as an educator, leader and facilitator with a range of communities, educational institutions and not-for-profit organizations in BC and Latin America. She holds a Master's degree in Education from Simon Fraser University specializing in adult education, and has developed and led initiatives focused on community development, leadership, social justice and environmental sustainability. Throughout her community and social change work, she has been an advocate and mentor for youth engagement and co-founded and worked for 6 years as Director of Earth Matters, an organization which engages young adults in community-based sustainability projects. Stacy brings a passion for working with small rural communities, and most recently returned to Canada in 2006 after 2 years working with communities in rural Chile. She currently lives with her partner on Vancouver Island.
