Martin Carver

Martin Carver
Martin Carver is an educator and applied scientist with interests in water, land management, and climate change and in the interface between leadership, science, and policy. In late 2005, he took a position as British Columbia's provincial Watershed Hydrologist in the newly minted Water Stewardship Division of the BC Ministry of Environment. In this position, he supports improved science-based decision-making where water/aquatic values may by affected by land use, especially forestry. He is an Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University in the School of Environment and Sustainability. For eight years, he has headed up Aqua Environmental Associates (Nelson, BC), providing water- and land-related assessments and recommendations with a focus on sustainability. His clients have included community forests, provincial, national, and international ENGOs, governments and major industries. He fosters collaboration by infusing leadership fundamentals and improved communication into environmental conflicts. In the early 90s, he completed a PhD at UBC in hydrology with extensive fieldwork in Nepal. He actively studies Spanish and non-violent communication. He currently lives in Victoria.
