Lise Burcher
Lise Burcher,
is a faculty member in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph, Lise directs her energies to creating interdisciplinary teaching and learning opportunities for students within a service learning and community outreach framework. Integrating aspects of natural and cultural systems and social needs, she supports holistic and sustainable community planning and design strategies.

She has demonstrated significant commitment to improving the quality of life through her professional and local community based actions. She has contributed to the development of many community plans and initiatives throughout Canada exploring sustainable design and development strategies that enhance the quality of civic life and provide recreation, leisure and cultural activities within the context of increasing tourism and local business opportunities. Her work involves collaboration with design teams with expertise in environmental, land use and transportation planning, architecture, marketing and retail development.

Lise has served the local community in a leadership role for many years, taking action as an advocate on many civic issues and challenges. She has helped to increase debate and broaden awareness in the community. Lise was first elected to municipal council in 2003 and focuses her energies on enhancing the quality of civic life through citizen engagement and effective consultation strategies.
