Lisa Gibson
Lisa will be presenting: TBALisa Gibson is the coordinator of Living in Community, a collaboration of sex worker, resident, business and government organizations working to build relationships across groups that have traditionally been at odds with each other, and to develop strategies to make communities healthier and safer for everyone around issues associated with the sex industry. The project has been an opportunity to experience the power of working across diversity to inspire change through dialogue.
Lisa has worked for many years around social justice issues in Canada and overseas. She has extensive experience working with street-involved youth in Vancouver and Victoria, and has worked as a consultant with a human rights organization in Nepal around issues of trafficking and migration. She completed her MA in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton, England.
Lisa is passionate about exploring the link between personal transformation, and collective or social transformation, an exploration that is facilitated through her interest in Ashtanga yoga and Vedantic traditions. In the early mornings, she practices and teaches Ashtanga to a group of dedicated students, and her practice provides an important foundation for her work.
