Karen Mahon

Karen has been working on wilderness protection in British Columbia for the past fifteen years. She designed and led Greenpeace's successful campaign to protect Clayoquot Sound, now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
She was one of a small team that envisioned the Great Bear Rainforest campaign and was the primary strategist of the Greenpeace campaign. Before becoming the Executive Director of Hollyhock Leadership Institute in 1999, she was the co-founder and director of Rainforest Solutions Project. Her leadership has led the Institute to support an unprecedented number of ENGOs. Known for her sound strategic thinking, and ability to develop winning campaigns, her counsel has contributed to all the key environmental issues of this region. She currently serves of the Board of Directors of The Sierra Club of British Columbia, Conservation Voters of British Columbia, Hollyhock Centre, The Ruckus Society and The Centre for Living Democracy. Karen has a B.A. in Biology and Psychology.
