David Hatfield
David Hatfield,
is a respected leadership consultant and independent educator based in Vancouver. He has 9 years experience in designing and delivering a wide range of educational programs. His specialties are masculinity issues, conflict transformation, creativity, and emotional intelligence. His innovative programming design and facilitation have been contracted nationally and internationally. His background as professional percussionist and instructor of improvisational a cappella singing support his creative abilities in leadership and team-building, as well as his sense of ceremony. He is a new Associate of Anima Leadership in Toronto.
David has worked with over 17,000 boys and young men on masculinity issues, via his Catalyst: A program about boys, for boys programming. He is a sought after presenter by educators, youth workers, and parents for his Peace and Power: Working with Male Youth professional development programming. His community building events for men, called Stirred, not Shaken, were launched in BC in 2007, with enthusiastic response for subsequent follow-up sessions. He has twice been part of the Leadership team for Pathway a wilderness-based rite of passage program for boys and their fathers in New Zealand. He was a Lead Facilitator for the arts-based youth empowerment program Power of Hope from 2000 - 2006.
David has extensive experience delivering his work to all levels of educational organizations: public, private and post-secondary institutions, BC Teachers’ Federation, the United World Colleges Network, and the Council of International Schools of the Americas. Other contracts have included The Conflict Resolution Network of Canada, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and World Peace Forum – Vancouver.
David has been teaching his Singing Soul workshop series on improvisational a cappella singing since 1997, in Canada, the US, and New Zealand. He was the founder and conductor of the “House of Song” a cappella choir, and was a conductor at “SongRise” a 5 hour long piece of improvised choral music on New Years’ Eve 1999. He is the choral director for Cooking with Monkey, a children’s cooking TV show currently in production in Kelowna BC.
