Charlie Murphy
is Co-founder and Creative Director of the Power of Hope: Youth Empowerment Through the Arts, whose mission is unleash the positive potential of youth through art-centered, intergenerational and multicultural learning programs that value self-awareness, leadership, community, and social change.

Murphy is a youth development specialist, an award-winning composer and artistic director of the popular Seattle band Rumors of the Big Wave. 
In addition, Charlie was the former director of training for the YMCA Earth Service Corps, a national youth environmental organization.

In the early years of his career, he worked with youth in the mental health field and as a consultant in experiential education and group work. Charlie has been widely recognized for his innovative work incorporating the creative process with youth development. He regularly consults with youth development organizations and cultural institutions.

Charlie has extensive experience working with diverse groups of youth and adults, and has trained several thousand youth workers, artists, teachers, and adult mentors in methods for developing their own creative capacities and fostering creativity within youth, organizations, and communities.
